Fast Bowler Irfan Pathan to marry Shivangi
"We know each other really well now," said a blushing Irfan, who first met his lady love in Canberra in 2003. The younger Pathan, however, is sure of the venue. "It will take some time but certainly in Vadodara. It will be a traditional wedding," he said.
TOI had first reported about Irfan's relationship with Shivangi, in March last year. Irfan had first met her during a practice match.
Talking about their first meeting, Pathan told TOI: "She was very shy and didn't talk much during our first meeting. It took quite some time before we got comfortable with each other and got into a relationship," Irfan said.
So, who proposed first? "I was the one who proposed to her about three years ago. I was in Vadodara when I called her up and asked her if she would marry me," he said. She said yes.
Initially, there was some resistance from both families. "Now, our families have accepted our relationship," he added.
Shivangi, who has visited Irfan's home twice, works as a chartered accountant in Australia and also teaches dance to children. "She is a very good dance teacher and has a major fan following in her dance school," said Irfan who has visited her school.

Sanath Jayasuriya Happy Birth Day to Your
"Age is not a problem, it is how you stay mentally and physically fit to remain on top of the game, to try out new variations with the bat and ball," Jayasuriya told AFP.
The dashing batsman, who also bowls left-arm spin, made his international debut against Australia in Melbourne in 1989 and won praise as an all-rounder during Sri Lanka's victorious World Cup campaign in 1996.
Jayasuriya is only the second batsman after India's Sachin Tendulkar to pass 13,000 runs in one-day internationals. He is also the oldest batsman to score a one-day century, at 39 years and 212 days.
"I don't really worry about records anymore these days," the left-hander said.
"I focus on putting runs on the board, to help the team win matches."
Jayasuriya retired from Test matches in 2007, but continues to shine in the physically challenging shorter version of the game, determined to prove he has a few more miles left on the clock.
The short but powerfully-built batsman is virtually unstoppable when on song, and scored freely during the recent World Twenty20 in England where Sri Lanka won six successive matches before losing to Pakistan in the final.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka T20 WC Final - SL vs Pak Twenty20 Final

On the morning of March 3 in Lahore, the world of cricket was shaken to the core. The horrific attack on the Sri Lankan team bus, as it pulled into the Gadaffi Stadium ahead of the third day of the second Test against Pakistan, was the moment a thousand preconceptions were destroyed. Cricket's presumptions to diplomatic immunity had been mocked by the forces of evil, and as Pakistan spiralled into sporting exile and Sri Lanka's traumatised players rushed home to the bosom of their families, the obvious reaction was to wonder "what now?" for the great game.
Three and a half months later, and sport's great gift for reinvention has delivered a contest that flicks two fingers at the perpetrators of the Lahore atrocity, and proves that - without wishing to overload the sentiment - the human spirit cannot be crushed by cold calculation. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take center stage at Lord's on Sunday for the final of the most joyful international tournament the game has arranged in years. Twenty20 may be cricket for hedonists, but after everything these two teams and their respective nations have been through of late, the need to lay on a party suddenly feels like the only serious obligation.

Pakistan vs South Africa 1st Semi-final T20 - SA v Pak Live, Pak v SA
South Africa lack nowhere and nothing. If Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith are the efficient drones at the top, there is heart in the middle, with the ever-frail skills of Herschelle Gibbs and the creativity of AB de Villiers. Even Albie Morkel, in whom there are glimpses of Zulu, thankfully smiles more. They've always had pace, but now they even have spinners, who are not batsmen forced to bowl. Sure, they are a little one-dimensional (watching videos of Umar Gul's yorkers?), but they are spinners - South African and successful; how often have we said that in the past?

England v Netherlands 1st T20 Match Live From Lords

England open the ICC World T20 against outsiders the Netherlands at Lord's on Friday in a match they dare not lose and the Dutch hope they might win.Hosts England open the ICC World Twenty20 against outsiders the Netherlands at Lord’s on Friday in a match they dare not lose and the Dutch hope they might win.
In pace bowler Dirk Nannes, who plays at Lord’s for Middlesex, the Dutch have a left-arm quick who can swing the ball late.
Australia-born Nannes didn’t hit top form during the Netherlands’ recent warm-up games against Ireland and Scotland but if the seamer, who also plays for Indian Premier League side Team Delhi, is at his best then England will need to watch out.

Live Telecast Twenty20 World Cup 2009, ICC T20 WC, England Live Coverage
The soaring popularity of Twenty20 cricket has prompted the International Cricket Council (ICC) to expand its base and reach a record 216 countries through television coverage in World Twenty20 beginning in England from June 5.The inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007 was a huge success. India, the financial hub of the sport, won the Championship and soon Twenty20 cricket became the new flavor in the cricket mad nation.
It not only created a new and younger fan base for the sport but also entered the unexplored markets of China and America where there was no existence of the traditional five-day Test and One-dayers.
It also gave birth to lucrative Twenty20 tournaments like Indian Premier League (IPL). ICC is looking to cash in on the popularity and enter new markets like Russia with this year's World Twenty20.
'We expect the ICC World Twenty20 to be the most viewed cricket event in the history of the game, which is a significant achievement considering it is just the second-ever staging of this event,' said Campbell Jamieson, ICC General Manager, Commercial.

New Zealnad Won Warm-up Against India T20 WC

New Zealand's unbeaten record against India in Twenty20s continued today by beating the world champions by nine runs in their warm-up outing at Lord's. Several New Zealand batsmen chipped in with aggressive contributions to post an imposing total which their bowlers, led by the reliable Daniel Vettori, defended tenaciously against a powerful Indian batting line-up.
The India team had faced questions regarding fatigue and fitness because of their players' involvement in the lengthy IPL and they took the field without Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan. Yuvraj Singh also did not play a part in the match although he was on the team sheet. However, it was because of the batsmen that performed in the IPL - Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja - that India challenged New Zealand's total of 170.
